What Is Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy?
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is a therapeutic modality that blends the use of ketamine (a legal, fast-acting dissociative anesthetic) with integrative psychotherapy to support healing and transformation. When used in a safe, structured therapeutic container, ketamine can catalyze profound shifts in mood, thought patterns, identity, and embodiment.
In a KAP session, ketamine is prescribed by an external licensed medical provider, while I offer preparation, presence and guidance during dosing, and post-journey integration. Sessions may vary between light somatic or psycholytic processing to immersive mystical experiences depending on intention, dosage, and individual responsiveness.
What Can KAP Help With?
KAP is a research-supported treatment for a wide range of psychological and emotional concerns, including:
Treatment-resistant depression (or treatment resistant bipolar depression, if already utilizing managed mood stabilization)
Generalized anxiety or panic
PTSD and complex trauma
Grief and existential distress
Chronic pain
Creative, emotional, or spiritual blocks
Individuals diagnosed with personality disorders (provided individual can manage infusions and engage in therapy)
You may be a good candidate if you…
Have tried talk therapy but feel stuck or disconnected
Want to explore unconscious patterns or inner healing in a new way
Open to non-ordinary states of consciousness in a safe, supportive setting
Have the willingness to engage in integration work
What to Expect
-
60 minute session
Discuss your history, intentions, and goals
Evaluate your readiness for this work
-
~60 minute session
Conducted by a licensed clinician to determine medical eligibility. I work closely with a trusted group at Innermost, one of the most reputable in NY state. Alternatively, I am happy to collaborate with your existing medical provider, if appropriate.
May include labs, vitals, and psychiatric evaluation.
Medication is prescribed by the provider. With the provider, you will determine which method of administration is most suitable (Lozenges, Intranasal/Spravato, Intermuscular, or intravenous).
If lozenges are prescribed, the dosing session can proceed with me alone. However, if intranasal, intermuscular, or intravenous is prescribed, please be aware that a medical provider will need to be present for the dosing session and this will require an additional cost billed separately.

FAQs
Will I be alone during the ketamine session?
No. I will be present throughout your journey to ensure physical and emotional safety. I may offer gentle guidance, transcribe your thoughts on paper, or sit in silence, depending on your needs.
Can I drive after my dosing session?
No. You must arrange for safe transportation home or bring a trusted support person. You may feel groggy or emotionally open afterward.
Do I need to continue therapy after the ketamine sessions?
Integration is key. While single sessions can offer insight, lasting change is supported by ongoing psychotherapy to weave insights into daily life.
What if I’m already working with a therapist?
That’s welcome! I can serve as your KAP integration therapist and collaborate with your existing therapist as appropriate.
What’s the difference between a “trip” and therapy?
KAP isn’t about escaping or chasing visions. It’s about safely exploring your psyche and body with professional support, so that you can heal from the inside out. Mystical experiences are not something to be chased outside of yourself, it’s something to remember as a truth you own.
